What is a good handgun for home security?
Let’s see, that makes 15, ri asked:
This will be my first gun to own, but I am no noob to guns (I’ve shot 9 mils, 20 guages, some .22 rifles, and…oh, a .50 rifle). What is a reliable, not too expensive handgun that you recommend?

If you want something for home protection, you will want something with stopping power. Forget the 22 or 9mm. Go for a 357 or 40 cal. I like the Glock 40 cal. If someone breaks into your home, you don’t want to have to call the cops. Only a mortician, otherwise, they could sue you. Let’s face it, most criminals have too many rights.

Get a 12 gauge shotgun. It’s cheaper, more versatile, more accurate, ammo is about the same price…
A 12 has all the power that you need, but won’t penetrate through the walls and hit neighbors (unless you use a slug). Plus…there are few sounds more intimidating than the cycling of a pump action 12 gauge shotgun. You can always go hunting with it later.

Ruger SR9 – 9mm handgun-about 440 by me most likely a little less as long as you do not live in IL.
Taurus 24/7 Pro – comes in 9mm, .40caliber, and .45acp. About 500 by me.
Good quality handguns with a lower price.
