Signs of paranormal activity?

Ok, my mother recently passed away and I lived with her and now I’m majorly on the look out for any sign she’s around, so I’m probably being silly and I’m sure this is in no way anything to do with the paranormal, but here goes – twice at night now when I’ve been downstairs on my laptop, I’ve heard a deafening sort of beep sound in the room. At all times the only appliance which is switched on is my laptop (I’ve checked and it’s not the smoke/burglar alarm, neither are close to the room), and the noise does not come from the laptop, it’s never made noises like that before, and I can just tell it didn’t come from the object on my lap, it’s from the other side of the room and it echoes around the room. The noise was slightly different both times. I’m sure there’s probably some reasonable explanation, but just wondering if there had ever been paranormal activity linked with electronic noises?

Please no ‘ghosts don’t exist’ or whatever, none of us know that, all I want to know is if anybody has heard of anything like that before, no space for opinions, thank you. If anybody does have any positive stories about experience with the paranormal that don’t relate to my question, then feel free to share, but just please don’t lie, I’d prefer to never experience anything than to be fooled into something not real, this is extremely important to me, I’m not some kid looking out for ghosts, I’m a woman desperately wanting to find my mum.
