I need to trigger a faucet using a remote motion detector. I’d like the faucet to stay on for 5 or 6 seconds?

I have a motion detector that will turn on a light for 6 seconds – i just need to attach it to something that will turn on a faucet….any ideas?

Use a ball bearing to stop the water flow. When triggered, the sensor could trigger an electromagnet that pulls the ball bearing away, allowing the water to flow.

    Trouble with cats? :-)

Actually, there are plenty of electrically operated valves available… check a garden store, and look in the irrigation and watering section.

I’d say you need a solenoid to turn the faucet on/off with a timer.
That kind of thing is pretty common in industry.
    Ask a commercial plumber.
You could then wire it to a motion sensor.
I hope the sprinklers keep the kids or animals out of your yard.
