How much is my clean, “low mileage” 97 Eclipse GSX worth?

Mac asked:

First off, I already know the KBB price.. which is $6200.

I always hear people are looking for them.. they are rare..

So what do you think its worth?

Its in great condition. 79.2k miles. My first and last issue with it (since I’ve owned it for 2 years) was an alternator problem… a year and a half ago!

Its for the most part stock but I:
Upgraded the stock intake.
Upgraded to a 3″ catback exhaust.
Replaced front and rear speakers with Alpines.
Replaced stock received with Kenwood receiver.
Tinted the windows (35%).
Replaced the stock 03′ wheels with black 17″ Motegi FF7s.
Replaced stock security system with an aftermarket system w/ sensor.

White paint, CLEAN, no rust, automatic. AWD. ABS.

Both foglights need to be replaced.. I put black electrical tape over them for now.. thats pretty much the only “issue” with it now.

I plan on selling it next year, possibly earlier.. just doing my research.. so it will probably be around 85k miles by time of sale in 09..
I used TMV as well, I got the same results then added my options and it went to $3,712 $4,858 $6,482.. how does a computer factor in popularity amongst young adults and the tuner scene? Or that nearly every part on this car is customizable? Its a tuner favorite for a reason…

I’ve been watching auctions on ebay as well. Last 97 GSX went for $6400 w/ 80k miles however had a repairable but major mechanical problem. (over 20 bids I remember)
A GST (GSX is the top model) is currently at $4.1k with 130k, 4 days, 9 bids.
Another GST with 110k is at $5.1k, 6 days and 27 bids.

Now think about my GSX with great mileage, clean and no problems… if I put this car at “Buy it now” for $5000, I assure you it will be gone in < 1 day!

I appreciate every answer but please, no computerized pricing answers because they wont accurately help with *this* car. I asked the question to get "human" answers.

Its a 12 y/o car sure, but thats a thought about automobiles in general, not a rare gsx.

You may be able to sell it for $5000. I don’t see it going for more then that. Right now you have an 11 year old car, some will say it is 12 years old so you have to go by the average ratings not clean. And it is a Mitsubishi, not a stellar name in the auto industry. I’m not sure how much value the upgrades will add. And this is private sale. Folks will want a discount over what a dealer will price it.
