How do burglars go in your home?
Herbert & Sylvia R asked:
Wondering how burglars go in your home… do they usually break a window and then open it to go in… or do you suppose they just break it and go in? I’m getting a home security system installed… but they are charging a lot to get the “glass break” sensor installed… so I am only getting the sensor in which only detects when a window is opened… what do you guys think? I’m thinking they break the window then open it…

When I was burglarized, I came home to the front door kicked in. Then I had a monitored security system put in. It monitors all three doors and a motion detector. I can’t have the window sensors because I have a panabode house (all outside walls are solid wood).
Police told me that usually the door is kicked in because neighbors are seldom alarmed by that noise but breaking glass is more likely to get the neighbors attention. Also, burglars don’t want to cut themselves on the broken window fragments.
