Boeing Builds Tower To Secure U.S. Borders
Boeing has successfully tested a networked mobile sensor tower, which is one of many planned for the U.S. Secure Border Initiative.

The 98-foot towers use radar, wireless access data points, communications and computer equipment, and a tower security system. It monitors the border for movement and staff members notify Border Patrol Agents of suspicious activity. Agents receive a map, or Common Operating Picture, showing the coordinates on their mobile laptops.

I’m for towers, fences, minutemen, anything that keeps illegals from breaking the law and slithering here!!!

We need a wall. A BIG wall. And we need to enforce immigration laws. All illegal immigrants who commit a crime this country should be sent home as soon as possible.

Good. It’s a step in the right direction anyway…..
A lot more needs to be done, but this is a start.

Glad to see something is being done, finally.
I also think we need a double fence on the border approximately 50 feet apart with a guard dog patrol in the area between the 2 fences.
I also think the actual patrols by the border patrol need to be increased and the numbers of the border control agents tripled.
We have so much more land that borders with Canada with very little border patrol there – we do not have a problem with canadians trying to get in the US illegally, just the mexicans on very small stretch of border that we cannot seem to control.
If we have to hire enough border agents to stand side by side all along the border between mexico and US – let’s do it.

That’s fine for the middle of the desert in untrafficked areas, but there is no way sensors are going to be able to pick out people who have blended into any sort of a crowd, or who are picked up by waiting vehicles. We still need the FULL fence authorized and signed into law just months ago.

They’re back to this thing again? The only way it will work is if placed between a double fence. The Border Patrol response time is simply too long in many areas to make these towers effective.
Yes, we need things like this, but we need them used in a sane manner. Sticking an unmanned tower in the middle of nowhere does nothing to top the flow. More often than not, once the illegal makes it over the border, they head for the nearest road where a truck is waiting. That’s why I’m very opposed to the useless “smart fence”….. What good is a picture without someone to actually make an appreention?
