Also, is it possible to have 24/7 security for doors and windows?
Henry asked:
So today, my friend’s family gets robbed. They were blind folded and the burglars took all their money. Also, two weeks earlier, my uncle’s friend got robbed. His wife and kid was tied up and when the father came home, everything assumed to be valuable was taken. This has given quite a scare to my family. I think we will invest in ADT security. But I have a few questions. I understand that their are some motion sensors that need to be turned on when you are sleeping. But what if the burglars are in the house when those motion sensors aren’t on? Then what? There would be no point to the security system then. So I was wondering, if the burglars were somehow able to get in, and the motion sensors weren’t on, could there be security set on the doors and windows so that if they were opened or broken the alarm would automatically sound? Also, is it possible to have 24/7 security for doors and windows?

Holy crap.
I would invest in some 50. cal turrets if I were you.
Heh heh.
Well I think that you should definetly get an alarm system. The answer to your question would be answered in depth by an alarm system company.
CAll them up and good luck!

good question.
when my family had adt, it was activated only when you turned it on. if somehow the burglers got in and u turned the system on after they sneaked in….ur out of luck. might want to ask the ADT ppl about this,
invest in a gun, its one of your rights…as of right now…
go to a shooting range and practice. also secure doors and windows.
maybe change new doors with better security and also windows with double glass.

You’re better off with security doors and barred windows than with ADT (or any other service). I can tell you that commercially installed home alarm systems are fairly low on the police scale of priorities (because of people who forget to arm or disarm them, or the cat or dog sets it off, or any number of other accidental activations), and most police departments will verify that. It can take far more time for the police to arrive than for a punk to lock you into a closet (or worse) and clean you out. Now……don’t bother with the “specialists”, you’ll pay through the nose, but any competent carpenter can install an artillery proof door for about $600-900. I know that sounds like a lot of money, but once you pay for it it’s yours, no monthly charges and these things work, you can’t break them down with a car! Same with ornamental window grills. It’s a sad commentary that we’ve sank this low, but fact are facts, and the most scary fact is that in a civil emergency there may be NO police for hours or even days.

Cableguy has a great answer, and looks to be an independent secuirty sytem dealer. Stay away from ADT, Brinks and the rest of the big guys. You will be nothing but a number to them. Yes you can have doors and windows armed and not internal protection (motion sensors) at the same time. A good dealer will ask alot of questions about your habits and preferences, and install and program the sytem to your needs. ADT and Brinks do not pay their installers well, and you get what you pay for. Go with an independent dealer, you’ll get better service and your money will stay locally.

Your best bet would be a big dog or small noisy one. Security systems suck you ether forget to set it or you set it off if you or some one gets in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. You asked if burglars were in the house before you set the system. Get a dog. Bad guys don’t like noise. Dog’s make good companions they will give their lives to protect their owners also good early warning systems when family comes home. You know by the way they bark at the door if it’s friend or foe.
