add motion detector to ADT security sys?

Ron asked:

I have the home security system, but ADT’s motion dectors only go inside the house. I had an attempted break in that they almost completed for I noticed the door jam had been cracked under the force of entry. I secured that, but now I would like to integrate a motion detector between the storm and main door, but ADT’s will not work. Can I integrate another company’s motion detector into my existing system?

they don’t usually put motion detectors outside because cats birds etc can set them off and the false alarms will drive everyone crazy.

they also have pressure sensitive pads to put under rugs
have you thought about security motion detector cameras
glass breakage sensors that detect breaking crashing sounds

Use cameras in this case… Not a pure motion detector but a motion sensitive camera and lights. Secure the camera and lights so that they will not be knocked down or taken out by a smart crook. Also you should consider having the time that it takes to deactivate the alarm via the control panel to something like 10 secs get the optional key chain device and/or smart phone app. This way if your hands are full you can deactivate it. Pressure sensitive plates are not even a part of the alarm system all of the ones that I have seen are just a loud noise maker. Consult you service provider and have them come out and give you an estimate on the camera system.

Well, nearly anything can set them off, so you’ll want to use them as more of a theft deterrent, rather than another component of your ADT security system. I do recommend them – they’re a relatively inexpensive piece of home security, and every little bit helps, in my opinion. There’s a solid selection of motion detectors at. Hope that helps!
